O'Hara Woods Preserve BioBlitz
We are hosting a BioBlitz at O'Hara Woods on Saturday, April 24th from 8-Noon! This event will utilize a free-to-use phone app called iNaturalist to take pictures of any and all life that's out on site, help identify what you've found, and post their locations to a map for other folks to see. We will use the observations you find to help inform how we manage O'Hara Woods in the future. This is a great family friendly project: all you need is a smartphone!
If you're interested in helping, I've attached (in a separate post) some how-to guides which will walk you through downloading iNaturalist, joining our specific O'Hara Woods BioBlitz project, and start making observations! One document is a detailed How-To which will walk you through how to join the project and make observations. The other is a shorter field guide designed to be printed off and brought with you on Saturday. It is recommended that you make an account and join the project before the day-of, as it will help streamline the process. If you do encounter issues along the way, I will be happy to help them day-of with technical support.
In compliance with Covid-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will continue to be required. We will meet in the parking lot off of Beverly Griffin Drive on the east side of the preserve.
Hoping for a good turnout! See you then!
